Dedicated gang punches significantly enhance throughput and efficiency on the factory floor. Traditional batch processing, which often relies on multiple low-productivity machines across departments, can slow operations.

The solution? The 19-Head Gang Buster. This high-productivity machine offers portability, easy hookup, and operational efficiency, effectively addressing these challenges.

1. Portability

2. Ease of Hookup and Use

3. Streamlined Operations

4. Machine Specifications

Portability

Move the machine to the extrusion, not extrusion to the machine, allowing greater flexibility in plant design and layout. This highly portable unit includes:

  • Forklift mobility with a balanced load and a solid, welded 2” square steel tube frame.
  • Low center of gravity for stability during relocation.
  • Relatively lightweight—1,000 lbs versus a 10,000 lb, top-heavy press brake with similar tonnage.

The 19-Head Gang Buster can be moved across the plant in minutes, allowing for immediate use in different departments. This maximizes machine utilization and eliminates bottlenecks.

Ease of Hookup and Use

  • 240-volt connection plug for hookup to cable drops around the plant, eliminating the need for hard wiring and a qualified electrician with every move.
  • A large slug tray captures slugs for easy disposal, ensuring a clean, safe factory floor free from slipping hazards.
  • Tethered foot pedal gives operators the flexibility to position themselves efficiently for loading and unloading.

Streamline Operations

Reducing equipment footprint and increasing productivity is where this unit excels.

  • Previous systems required makeshift hole-making solutions across multiple processing locations, with variations in drilling and punching techniques that often involved one hole at a time.
  • Each new part required unique calculations to center holes on random-length pieces, slowing down operations.
  • The Gang Buster enables fast and accurate visual setup over the entire length, allowing parts to be centered on fixed pitches in a single press cycle.
  • Each punch head has a ball valve shut-off for customized punching speed.
  • Operators can easily adjust pitch centers on the doweled mounting table, as well as the back fence setting.
  • Button dies and punch bodies are designed to fit within extrusion legs, adding manufacturing flexibility essential for meeting productivity goals.

Machine Specifications

  • Power requirements: 240/480-volt hydraulic power pack (other voltages available upon request).
  • Footprint: 144”L x 24”W x 32”H to table top/working height (approx. 48” overall).
  • Capacity: 19 variable pitch stations at 7 tons each.
  • Connections: Flex-hose hydraulic connections.
  • Punches and dies: Standard, off-the-shelf components.
  • Production rate: Punch cycle time of 5 seconds.
